Ways to Remove Nail Glue From Laptop
We all know how frustrating it is when the nail glue gets on your laptop. You can’t just ignore it, and you can’t let it sit there.
Here are a few tips on how to remove the glue from the laptop.
1. Nail Polish Remover
Use nail polish remover to remove nail glue from your laptop. Nail polish remover is made from solvent acetone which has the capability to soften the nail glue. Take a cotton ball and dip it in the nail polish remover, squeeze to remove any excess liquid.
Now apply slowly in the area to dissolve the nail glue. Let it dissolve for a few seconds(3-5 secs) then scrape it off with a knife or razor blade. It will come out easily.
One major disadvantage of this method is that Acetone being a strong solvent can ruin the surface of the laptop.
If the glue is stuck on the outer body which is made of hard plastic, can be ruined because of acetone it will destroy the matt finish and may cause a permanent stain. To avoid this use acetone in a very limited quantity that covers only the glue part.
2. Hair Sprayer
A hair sprayer contains polymer molecules that can soften the glue to some extent. Spray it on the area where the nail glue is stuck and let it sit for a few minutes and then scrape it off with a sharp knife or razor blade. The hair spray does not damage the cover of the laptop.
Liquid Mild detergent can also be tried to soften the nail glue. Take a cotton bud and dip it in liquid detergent and apply it to the affected area. Repeat this a few times and let it sit for a few minutes and then try to scrape it off with a sharp object.
4. Scape with a Sharp Object
Instant glue. Power glue, super glue, or nail glue are brittle in nature. They are good at binding particles but when you accidentally drop a few drops on a surface their bond is the weakest after a few hours.
So try to scrape it off with a sharp object like a knife or razor blade. It should come out without damaging the surface.
5. Denatured Alcohol
Denatured alcohol is a widely used cleaning agent for removing strong liquids, dirt, greases, glue, or wax. It can be applied on a range of surfaces including plastic, acrylic, glass, wood, etc.
6. Isopropyl Solution
Isopropyl alcohol is a popular cleaning agent. It helps softens glues and later you can scrape them off the surface.
7. Commercial Debonders
Commercial debonders like Polyfix are an acetone-based solvent that works as a cyanoacrylate adhesive remover. You can apply this on many types of surfaces but always do a compatibility test to check if it does not damage the surface.
